Christmas Wall Hanging/tabletopper November 2022

I made this wallhanging/table topper for the Mascot Senior Citizens Centre. In the Xmas box was the Xmas tree panel and some smaller scraps. I made a randomly put together "piano key" border from the scraps, put it on the panel, quilted it and the put the red binding on with Monica's help for the handsewing.

Here is the hand embroidered label
A picture of the whole quilt which consists of hourglass blocks (a favourite block of mine) made with pink scraps and white for highlighting the blocks

Beautiful hourglass shapes  alternating sideways and uprights.

Scrappy Quilt just because.......I really enjoy making something pretty out of my scrap box July/August 2022

Sorry go to the bottom of the photos and come back up one by one

Sew the squares alternately together and bingo! a pretty scrap quilt top. Haven't finished it yet
Make the squares with the white borders and sew the strips together for the multicoloured squares
Choose the colours
You start with your scrap basket

Nikolas's Quilt October 2022

Loretta's granddaughter had her second child earlier in the year. As usual I chose a scrap quilt pattern using lots of brightly coloured children's novelty fabrics highlighted with white. I also used a scrap binding -0ne of my favourite ways of doing binding.
Above is a close-up of some of the fabrics
The label was embroidered by both Loretta and me
Here's a glimpse of the backing which was a blue sheeting

Gracie's Quilt

This wee baby quilt was made for Gracie in May. Gracie is the great granddaughter of an old friend who died some years ago and I like to keep in contact with her family.

This quilt has a scrappy binding made by stringing the scarpa leftover together.
The back of the quilt was in a stripey fabric. The label below was emroidered by hand as usual with me
Lastly, a close-up of the soft bright pastels used

My Wall Quilt

 May 2022

When I painted my living room blue in the second year of Covid (2021) The wall quilt I had up was in citrus colours and no longer matched my decor. This is the one I chose to do in different blues. Very simple pattern but effective. It's essentially a scrap quilt.

Two Pretty Dollies April 2022

Gail and I started making these when I visited her in 2021. I took them home and finished them early this year. The aprons are a sandwich tray doiley cut in two. It's always fun making dollies.

Baby Girl Quilt: 2014

Here is a picture of a baby quilt completed for a little girl in 2014. The quilt was made entirely from scraps

Batik Jewels: April 2022

This quilt top was donated to the Mascot Senior Citizens Club. The two borders and the backing were added by Jenny Wills of the Mascot Quilters Group. Jenny also quilted the cover. The quilt was raffled and I'm told, very much admired.

A Series of Cat Quilts: No 1 Scazz's Quilt, No 2 Saffy's Quilt No 3 The Kitten Quilt with Hermione modelling

Scazz hasn't got his quilt yet so there is no picture of him on it. He is a black and white tuxedo cat and I made him a quilt years ago when he was a young kitty. Now he's the grand old man and that quilt is very worn so he has a new one.

Memory Quilt for Kylie Dec 2021

I made this memory quilt for a friend who has had a bad year. It's a special quilt so I used some of my most exquisite fabrics - ones that I have saved for many years. My daughter helped me to plan the quilt with items of significance to Kylie's family. Colours important to Kylie were carefully chosen and the quotes came from a Led Zeppelin song important to her. A hummingbird symbolising peace and love was the centrepiece.

The family's names were incorporated in a series of hearts symbolising family love.

The butterfly fabric above is a feature of the quilt

Kathy's Quilt Jan 2021

Kathy wanted a scrap quilt in blues and yellows - the same pattern I had made for Lynette in reds and golds. Because Kathy lives in Townsville and is unlikely to need the quilt for warmth I omitted the wadding and  made a coverlet of two thicknesses of cotton. I  sewed the two thicknesses together lightly.

Here is the whole quilt  - all from my scrap basket except for the blue star fabric

Cushion Covers for Sarah October 2021

A friend of mine was getting married in October. She wanted some new cushion covers for her wedding present and sent these photos down after she got them. I did not make the flowery one just the tangerine and the yellow ones. The flowery ones were new and fortuitously matched perfewctly wit the ones I had sent her.

I did the back openings with buttons and buttonholes as I think they make a great decorative alternative to the front of the cushions.

My friend also has a beautiful grey cat called Persephone. Persephone needed a new quilt:
